Jury 2023

All 79 short films are nominated officially for the festival’s film competition and will be judged in various categories by an international jury of experts. The jury consists of:

 

Pegah Ahangarani

Director and actress

Pegah Ahangarani Jury

Pegah Ahangarani is a highly accomplished Iranian artist, known for her work as an actress, film director, and musician. She has directed nine documentaries and acted in over 40 feature films, which have been screened at renowned festivals worldwide. Ahangarani has received numerous awards, including Best Actress at the Cairo FF and Best Director at the Isfahan IFF. Her latest documentary film “I Am Trying To Remember” has been selected for prestigious festivals such as IDFA and HotDocs, and has won multiple awards, notably,  the Jury Special Mentions Award from the Busan Film Festival and the Docu Night Film Festival, as well as an IDA nomination.

Martina Petrović

Head of MEDIA Desk Croatia – Creative Europe

Martina Petrović

She has a major in International Relations and a minor in Psychology & has gained most of her working experience at the Ministry of Culture, Department for International Cultural Cooperation, being responsible for various cultural exchange programmes between Croatia and other countries; among many activities, she was responsible for the organisation of Croatian film presentation during international film festivals in Berlin and Cannes. From 2008, she has been actively involved in establishing the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, where she has stayed, after being chosen by the European Commission as the Head of MEDIA Desk Croatia. Following immediate and successful results in terms of ensuring the financing by the MEDIA Programme, working thoroughly on the promotion of the Croatian film, resulted in receiving the first Albert Kapović Award by the Croatian Producers Association, given at the opening of Zagreb Film Festival in 2010. As the Head of MEDIA Desk Croatia (today’s Creative Europe Desk – MEDIA Office Croatia), she has been actively involved in organizing innovative and active presentations/workshops – important tools for education and networking – between Croatian but also European film professionals.

15 years of teaching experience in story development at the Hagenberg University of Applied Sciences in the Digitals Arts master’s course. Loves short films and new narrative structures. Lives and works in Linz.
