As a sound designer, sound editor and re-recording mixer with more than 9 years of professional experience in TV and cinema and more than 6 years of experience in sound recording and sound engineering for live and pre-recorded shows for TV and radio as well She has several years of experience as a jury member at film festivals and holds a Masters degree in Sound Design and Mixing from the University of Bournemouth in the UK. Ensieh Maleki has worked on more than 60 feature and documentary films that have received awards or nominations at more than 100 international film festivals, including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, BAFTA, BFI, Toronto, Sundance, IDFA, Asia Pacific, Chicago, Shanghai, Tokyo, Locarno, Visions du Reel, Karlovy vary, Sheffield, Hot Docs, Bussan, Edinburgh, Goa, San Sebastian and Krakow. She also did the design and sound mixing for Abbas Kiarostami’s last film 24 frames. Parts of the film will also be shown in this masterclass.
She lives with every frame and line of the script and spends many hours capturing the essence of the story and the director’s details. Then she creates sound, or rather, stories with carefully designed sounds that are tailored to the director’s idea.
